Board Reviews in Chronic Kidney Disease

A patient has had an MDRD GFR of 45 cc/min for five months. What is the stage?

Stage III includes GFR levels between 30 and 59 cc/min/min2. Here, the GFR is moderately decreased. At this stage one could expect to find early bone disease and anemia. The MDRD GFR can be calculated using the age, race and gender. For more information refer to the NKF KDOQI Guidelines at http://www.kdoqi.org
